Denver Maternity Session Considerations
Maternity sessions are such a lovely way to document this time of sweet anticipation.
If you’d like to integrate props into your session, feel free! If you have a complimentary/coordinating blanket you’d like to sit on or wrap up in, baby shoes, anything related to due date time frame bring them along! Previous clients have requested items to be included that showcased baby’s name, an ultrasound photo and a future favorite stuffed animal planned for monthly milestone photos, etc. Don’t stress about this - props are totally optional. :)
Wardrobe selection is fairly important when styling a maternity session. Many moms-to-be ask how they can camouflage portions of their body that they're uncomfortable with. My goal is to capture you in all your natural glory, but I want you to feel comfortable, radiant and beautiful. If the derrière is your area of concern, feel free to bring a large scarf, or pashmina to drape over your shoulders or around the arms. A shawl also works well. Speaking of derrière - taking a moment to ensure your outfit selection doesn't show pantylines is time well spent. ;)
I typically suggest a neutral or pastel palette for maternity sessions: blues, light greens, pinks, lavender, gray, black, tan, etc. Bold colors like mustard, burnt orange, navy and red may be lovely for the time of year! I would suggest avoiding lime green and hot pink as they often color cast on skin. Most moms-to-be wear dresses but I’ve actually seen eggplant colored pants paired perfectly with a baby bump.
