FAQ

What does a studio newborn session look like?

This style newborn session is very hands on from a photographer’s perspective. Mom and dad can relax as baby is styled in wraps, hats/headbands to accentuate their newborn sweetness!

How do we reserve a newborn photo session date as we're unsure of when the baby will arrive?

Your payment reserves a tentative date, reach out via email or text once your little one arrives to solidify your session date.

Do you provide props for our newborn session?

I offer a lovely collection of neutral and gender specific wraps, hats and headbands for studio sessions. These items may be added on to lifestyle sessions for a fee.

What rooms in our home will you use to photograph our family during lifestyle sessions?

Documenting you and your newborn family in the comfort of your Denver or Boulder area home in natural light is timeless and is endlessly personal. I look for the areas in your home that offer the best light and typically aim to shoot in your nursery and master bedroom perhaps even capturing big brother/sister showing off their room. While Denver lifestyle newborn sessions do capture a variety of solo baby shots, this style places emphasis on interaction with family members. I’m open to offering as much or as little posing guidance and instruction as you’d like. Let me know what feels right for you and your newborn family!

Should I bring anything to the session?

For outdoor sessions, I welcome blankets to sit on that give consideration to outfit selection and color cohesion. Make a blanket into a prop to engage the kiddos by tossing it in the air. Perhaps a stack of books to read, favorite toys, anything with baby’s name or photogenic accessories like hats, stuffed animals used for milestone sessions.

Any advice for working with toddlers and children?

Above all - HAVE FUN. Focus on the kids instead of smiling at the camera. My clients typically choose images from their sessions where they are interacting with their families, cultivating real moments and smiles, aiming for candid, playful moments. Having a plan of how to interact with them while going with the flow and letting the them a lead a little. I’m alllll about getting smiles on everyone’s faces piled up on a blanket together or running around chasing each other. Feel free arrive early and allow the family time and space to run around and explore the location before the session before diving in.

Do you offer custom packages for Denver and boulder area maternity and newborn sessions and/or baby’s first year?

Yes! If you don’t see exactly what you’re looking for in the investment information, I’m happy to build a discounted multiple session package that suits your family.

What location do you suggest for the session?

SO many lovely locations offering mountain backdrops that I LOVE for maternity sessions to urban parks with lakes and stunning foliage!

What timeframe do you suggest for outdoor sessions?

Anything you see on my website, posted to social media, all the images (100%) were taken at sunset. Scheduling your session at the right time of day is the biggest impact on your images. Shooting sessions in the mountains outside of sunset timeframe is not available.

How long after the session will I receive my initial proofs?

I aim for prompt delivery of initial proofs, typically a few days after the session, unless otherwise mentioned at your shoot.

What kind of payment plans do you offer?

Payment plans are available for multi-session milestone packages with 60% due at booking. Single sessions do require payment in full, prior to the session. I also accept credit cards.

When is the best time to photograph newborns?

I aim to photograph Denver and Boulder newborns 7-14 days after delivery but have photographed studio and lifestyle newborn sessions with babies up to five weeks old.

Do we need to provide props for our Studio newborn session?

If there are any personal items that you’d like to incorporate into your Denver Newborn photo session, I’d be happy to photograph them, but don’t worry about finding something particular if nothing comes to mind. I find that timeless, classic lifestyle images are best captured with less ‘stuff’ and I will have a variety of neutral swaddles and headbands and hats to offer during our sessions.

I have no idea what to wear. Ideas?

I have all the wardrobe ideas, if you’d like to be paired with a stylist to curate an outfit just for you, I’d be honored to connect you! I prefer texture (lace, velvet, etc.) and bold colors with limited prints, logos, brand names, etc. for a more on-trend style. I adore long dresses as they offer such flow and sense of whimsy and drama in your images. I typically advocate that outfits complement each other with variety in color and style as opposed to matching perfectly in the same color polo or t-shirt. I love boho hats on women. I recently entered a photo contest and I think I voted for every photo where mom wore a gorgeous dress and an awesome hat. See my favorite dress vendors here.
